What is a protein overload ?

A protein overload is when there is an imbalance between the moisture & protein in your hair. By your hair having too much protein will cause it to feel coated, super dry or brittle.

By dry we mean after shampooing and conditioning your hair drys extremely fast even after applying oil. As if you never moisturized your hair.

Protein vs Moisture
Checklist

Protein Overload (needs moisture)

Moisture Overload (needs protein)

Say after washing and deep conditioning (or just plan ole or conditioning) giving your hair moisture but it is lacking some curl definition, curls unable to retain form or is silky smooth soft. This is when you would need a protein treatment to balance the moisture.

If it absorbs the water and dries fast even after adding hair moisture oil ie. Aragon oil and it continues to absorb all oil retaining no moisture. Then you need a moisture treatment to balance the protein overload.

-TOO MUCH PROTEIN OR PROTEIN OVERLOAD-

If your hair is more frizzy than usual you need moisture but not too much or you will end up right back where you started. When your hair is already strong and healthy by adding more protein will cause a protein overload to happen. This will have your hair shine create a hard shell as well as stiff becoming brittle and sensitive to hair lost.

– RELAX-

Once you find the correct amount of moisture for your hair to balance the imbalance.

-TOO MUCH OF ONE THING WILL CAUSE YOU TO NEED THE OTHER –
